Ed Sheeran Cover Art

Ed Sheeran's cover art for his CD case is focused entirely on him, advertising himself to the audience. He chooses to make himself prominent with an graphic effect that makes his face look drawn onto the case. The cover is kept simple with just his face along with the name of the album,"+", this attracts the audience because they familiarize themselves with him. I like the technique used in this art work, it makes Ed Sheeran look iconic, increasing in status and this is a strong way to promote an artist. I think that my artist could be promoted in a similar way to Ed Sheeran increasing his status and making him familiar to the audience.

Looking at CD Cover Art

All of these cover arts are for artists' CDs that are of a similar genre to my artist, Daniel Cope. I have selected a range of covers that give me examples of different ways of representing the artist. For example,  Ed Sheeran's cover art is his face drawn on an orange background, this shows the audience that he is a solo singer just by looking at the cover and that he comes across as artistic. Whereas Gary Jules album cover is done using graphic design, creating a metaphorical representation instead of using himself. This is why I have to find many examples to discover basis for my own CD cover and digipak.
